Taylor Swift tops UK charts with 12th number One album

Taylor Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” rose to the top of the British music charts, outselling the combined top ten and breaking the Beatles’ record for the fastest artist to reach 12 UK number-one albums.

With “Poets,” Swift achieved the biggest opening week for an album in the UK in seven years, tying Madonna for the female artist with the most UK number one albums in Official Albums Chart history.

The Official Charts Company revealed, “Taylor Swift achieved 12 number one albums in just 11 years and 6 months, beating The Beatles’ record of 14 years and 1 month.”

Her hit single “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone, also topped the UK singles chart.

The album’s success extended globally, topping charts in Australia and expected to do the same in the U.S.

Both Spotify and Amazon Music reported “Poets” as their most-streamed album upon release, with Spotify hitting over 1 billion streams in a single week.

Journalist and music industry expert Mark Sutherland commented, “Taylor Swift continues to exceed expectations with each release, setting the bar high in an era of universal popularity.”

Swift’s achievements transcend music, with her Eras Tour boosting local economies, and Time magazine naming her 2023 Person of the Year for her musical feats and broader influence.
