Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has taken a dig at Nigeria’s top three musicians – Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy – in his latest rap music released on Friday
Bragging about his achievements, Sarkodie claimed to have sold out the O2 arena in 2016, a feat he says Nigerian performers Davido and Wizkid have yet to match.
He asserted that he paved the way for them, setting a precedent they have followed.
In the song, Sarkodie also placed Grammy Award-winning Nigerian musician Burna Boy and Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif in the same category as himself, implying they share a similar level of success.
A notable line from the song reads: “Wizkid came, I was already doing it; Davido started, I was improving it; then Odogwu came through Black Sherif and Asake.”
This lyric suggests Sarkodie believes he was a trailblazer, and others have followed in his footsteps.
