A pastor narrowly dodged a bullet when an attacker’s gun malfunctioned, giving the congregation a chance to intervene.

Identified as 26-year-old Bernard Polite, the gunman was later apprehended by authorities. Tragically, another man, Derek Polite, 56, was discovered shot dead at his North Braddock residence.
Reverend Germany, from Jesus’ Dwelling Place Church, North Braddock, recounted the harrowing encounter, expressing gratitude for what he believes was divine intervention.
Deacon Clarence McCallister bravely tackled the assailant as the gun jammed, allowing Pastor Germany to disarm him. The suspect later confessed to police, citing divine instruction and mental health struggles.
Bernard Polite now faces serious charges, with the community reeling from the shocking events that unfolded during Sunday service.
