A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele in the amount of N300 million

Justice Maryann Anenih approved the bail application while presiding over the case involving alleged unlawful naira color swap.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed a four-count amended charge against Emefiele, including disobedience to the law.

The judge also ordered two sureties to provide property documents and certificates of occupancy in the Maitama district of Abuja, as well as recent passport photographs.

Additionally, Emefiele must surrender his travel documents and remain within Abuja during the trial.

The judge’s decision was based on the discretion of the court and the severity of the offense, which carries a five-year imprisonment term.
